Ring of Kerry, Valentia Island, Derrynane*, Torc Waterfall Bray Head Walk
Our first stop of the day is at the beautiful Dingle Bay Viewing point. Here we will have a brief photo stop overlooking the Wild Atlantic way.
Next up we’ll make our way to the small town of Cahrciveen. Here we’ll make a brief stop at a local supermarket to buy some snacks to enjoy on our hike.
After a toilet break and some extra time to grab some snacks in a local shop, it is then on to Valentia Island. On the island, we will make our way to the start of the trailhead.
The views from here are simply breathtaking. On a clear day, you will see the very famous Skellig islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995. It was an island were monks settled in the 6th century after they fled Europe during the dark ages.
This loop gives wonderful views over Valentia Island, Portmagee, the Skellig Islands and the Dingle Peninsula to the north across the water. We will follow the stoney road to the top of the peninsula and from there you will be able to scramble down the narrow paths to the edge of Europe.
After the walk, we will make our way back onto the Ring of Kerry tourist road. We’ll stop buy Derrynane historical park, the fairy forest and Derrynane Strand. From there we will travel back to Killarney, through the national park, taking in the views of Ladies view and Torc Waterfall.
