5 star rating Trip of a Lifetime! We had a fantastic time on our tour with Irish Experience, especially with Lee as our guide. Lee went so far above and beyond in every possible way. His incredible knowledge brought each place to life with stories, history, and insights we never would have discovered on our own. His driving skills made us feel safe and comfortable every single day, no matter how winding the roads or challenging the weather. But even more than that, it is his kindness, patience, thoughtfulness, and genuine care that we will remember most. He was considerate of our needs, always attentive, and willing to do whatever would make our experience better. Our trip became far more than just a vacation. It became a collection of beautiful memories we will treasure for the rest of our lives. We will always remember the laughter, conversations, and moments we shared along the way. The warmth and friendship Lee showed us made this experience deeply personal and truly unforgettable.Lee’s warmth, professionalism, and generosity of spirit, made these past 11 days very special. At one point a special earring I was wearing broke and was lost. Lee found it and brought it home, his wife fixed it for me, and brought it back good as new! We saw so many incredible things on our trip. It was a wonderful mixture of history, culture, and fun! The hotels were all very nice, and the castle stay was absolutely phenomenal! Would’ve loved to stay there at least another night. The forest walk to the Torq Waterfall was absolutely breathtaking- truly, one of the most beautiful places on earth. The sheep dog experience was so fun, and all of the suggestions that Lee gave us on places to eat and shop were great. We hope you will expand your tours so we can book again!

5 star rating A great tour of Ireland made even better by our driver/guide. A great trip (actually the 13 day one) visiting wonderful places including some out of the way treasures. Anthony, our driver and guide is exceptional at what he does, providing insightful commentary and humour. We can’t rate the trip highly enough.

5 star rating So, so good! It is always with fearful faith you let someone else be the controlling factor on a holiday. You tremble with anticipation, fearing it will not be as promised. Well our 13 night tour with Irish Experience Tours was absolutely spot on, could not fault a thing. It covered the essential main points of interest yet didn’t get bogged down in the superficial touristy traps. There was plenty of β€˜do your own thing’ time and the days were well planned, interesting and great fun. Love the way IET support smaller local businesses, delve into the real experiences and offer so many options. Our β€˜camp dad’ Anthony was knowledgeable, a great driver and the perfect host even if his music tastes are questionable! πŸ˜‚ I would book another tour without blinking. Thanks for the experience!

4 star rating Fun and Informative 10-Day Tour of Ireland This was a great small group intro to Ireland. We hit all the big attractions and some interesting sites not on the official agenda. Beautiful country, very friendly people and fun pub culture. Mark our guide did a fine job driving us around and telling us about Ireland and the Irish people and was an all-around nice guy. We actually learned quite a bit about Irish history. He was very good about getting us to tourist favorites before the crowds. Traveled with some nice people in our group. Would recommend Irish Experience Tours to anyone looking to tour Ireland.

5 star rating 13 Day Wild Irish I was referred to Irish Experience Tours by a friend of mine and they exceeded my expectations. From the communication before the trip started, the guidance getting ready to go and the professionalism throughout the tour. Sean started our tour and provided historical information as we made our way around the countryside. Accommodations and food were great. Sean guided us to the best options when asked and set up group meals a couple times. There was a great itinerary of things to see and do and when time permitted, unexpected bonus excursions. We had one occasion during one of our β€œon your own days” local transportation was limited, Sean reached out and provided the group with service to get us to a local attraction. About ΒΎ of the way through the tour Sean had to leave us due to safety requirements for hours driven but then PJ stepped in and the tour went on with the same high-quality guidance. I can definitely say we had a great time, a great group and a great tour with Irish Experience Tours, β€œgood craic was had by all”, you need to take the tour to get that explanation and experience.

Just completed the 8 Day Castles and coast tour and it was great. Mark and Sean went above to make it outstanding. They even set up a golf outing for my grandson and myself. Mark even dropped us off and picked us up.
The train trip back to Dublin can be a tiring, especially the handling of luggage. thankfully we had our grandson to help but for older folks it could be an issue.
would highly recommend this small tour over the big buses, they went overboard to adjust to what we wanted to do.

We had the best group (small. Only 14 of us). And our guide Lee was amazing. Lots of little side tripsβ€”one to see Scotland from the coastline. The tour itself was well mapped out and the hotels (especially the castle) were fantastic. I swear the room in the castle was larger than my first apartment. I would definitely recommene Irish Experience tours.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for or if you need more information, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Flights & Transfers

Do you book flights for guests?

No, we don’t book flights – and that’s actually a good thing!

It gives you the freedom to choose the best departure dates, airlines and deals that suit your travel plans.

Whether you’re chasing loyalty points, flight sales or simply want control of your itinerary, this keeps things flexible for you.

Have questions about flights or arrival timings?

Drop us an email: info@irishexperiencetours.com – we’re happy to help.

When do the tours leave and from where?

All our tours depart bright and early at 8:30AM from Point A Hotel, Parnell Street, Dublin. Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand.

Here’s when each of our epic adventures kicks off:

Sundays @ 8:30AM

  • 6-Day Atlantic Discover & Adventure
  • 8-Day Castles & Coasts Experience
  • 10-Day Wild Irish Experience

Β

Mondays @ 9:30AM

  • 5-Day Galway & Northern Coast (from Galway)

Β

Tuesdays @ 8:30AM

  • 11-Day Ultimate Irish Experience
  • 7-Day Atlantic Way Experience
  • 5- Day South Coast Experience

Β

Thursdays @ 8:30AM

  • 13-Day Full Irish Experience
  • 5-Day Giant Irish Experience

Β

πŸ‘‰ Top tip: We always recommend arriving the night before your tour begins to avoid any early-morning airport drama.

We also have some tours with the option of leaving from Belfast.Β

What time do tours return to Dublin?

Most tours return between 4:30PM and 5:00PM, with drop-offs at either:

  • The Ashling Hotel, Parkgate St., Dublin
  • Point A Hotel, Moore Lane, Dublin 1

Β

If you’re catching a flight home that evening, make sure your departure is after 10PM to give yourself enough time.

Are airport transfers included in the tour?

Airport transfers aren’t included in our tours – but we’ve got you covered with helpful options.

We’ve put together a handy guide with all your airport transfer options, including public transport, shuttle buses and taxis.

Need a stress-free transfer?
We recommend a Meet & Greet taxi service with Irish Taxi Tours. For around €80 total (for up to 8 passengers), they’ll collect you from arrivals and take you straight to your city centre hotel.

How it works:

  1. Contact them via email/form (mention you’re booked on an Irish Experience Tour)
  2. They’ll send a payment link
  3. Once paid, you provide your flight details
  4. You’ll be greeted at Dublin Airport by name and whisked into town
Flying in from North America?

We recommend flying directly into Dublin Airport (DUB) – it’s the main hub and the most convenient option for our tours.

Direct Flights to Dublin from the USA:

  • New York (JFK/EWR) – Aer Lingus, Delta, United
  • Chicago (ORD) – Aer Lingus, United, American
  • Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. – Multiple options

Β

From Canada:

  • Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver – Air Canada, WestJet, Aer Lingus.

You’ll find plenty of options, and we’re happy to help if you’re unsure which works best for your tour.

What about Shannon airport?

Shannon is another international option, especially handy for guests booking private tours focused on Ireland’s west coast.

For our scheduled small-group tours, however, Dublin is your starting point.

How do I get from Dublin Airport to the city centre?

We’ve put together a handy guide with all your airport transfer options, including public transport, shuttle buses and taxis.

Pro tip: that Meet & Greet taxi we mentioned earlier? It’s well worth it after a long flight.

Who You'll Be Travelling With

What size are the tour groups?

Our tours are small by design. We keep it cozy so you get a more personal, authentic experience.

  • Small Group Tours: Max of 16 guests
  • Private Tours: Can accommodate up to 30+ for families, friends, or custom adventures

You only need two people to confirm a departure: we’ve never had to cancel a tour!

Can I join a tour if I’m travelling solo?

Absolutely – we love our solo travellers!

Whether you’re flying solo, with your partner, or in a group of friends, you’ll feel right at home. By the end of Day 1, you’ll likely have made a busload of new friends and be planning your post-tour reunions.

What kind of people join your tours?

You will meet like-minded people who have an appreciation for the great outdoors. Our guests are usually people from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, and come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

On average, we have a 50/50 split between men and women, with several single travelers on each trip as well as couples and friends traveling together.

Will I be travelling with the same group for the entire tour?

Yes, you will, but in some cases, particularly in the lower season, tours that follow the same route may travel together for part of the journey (for example, 5, 7, 10, 11, or 13-day tours).

This is because our longer tours are built as extensions of shorter itineraries, allowing groups to combine along overlapping routes.

This helps us maintain guaranteed departures while still delivering a small-group experience. Groups will separate again as each tour continues on its own itinerary.

What ages are your travellers?

We welcome guests from their 30s all the way into their 70s (and sometimes beyond).

As long as you’re young at heart and keen to explore Ireland off the beaten path, you’ll fit right in.

If you love stretching your legs, soaking up jaw-dropping landscapes, and swapping stories in a cozy pub at the end of the day – this is your tribe.

Accomodation & Rooming

What kind of places will we stay in?

We’re proud to partner with locally-owned, hand-picked accommodations across Ireland – from cozy guesthouses to boutique hotels steeped in character. We avoid big, impersonal chains and go for authentic, warm Irish hospitality instead.

Depending on your tour and preferences, you’ll choose between two great packages:

🌿 Classic Accommodation Package

Food, Dietary Needs & Where to Eat on Tour

Can my dietary needs be accommodated?

Yes – we do our very best to make sure everyone is well fed and happy, regardless of dietary preferences or restrictions.

Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, or have food allergies, please let us know in advance when booking your tour. We’ll flag it with your guide and accommodation providers.

While Ireland is still catching up with some food trends, most places are now very aware and accommodating of different dietary needs – especially in the towns and villages we visit. We’ll always try to ensure there are good options for you at breakfast, and your guide will offer tips for restaurants with suitable menus along the way.

Pro Tip: When dining out, just give your server a quick heads-up about your dietary needs – they’re used to it and usually happy to help.

Do we all eat together in the evenings?

Sometimes, yes – but it’s totally up to you.

Some groups love eating together every night, others prefer mixing it up. Your guide will chat with the group and help arrange group dinners when there’s interest, or recommend places for a quieter or more romantic meal if you fancy doing your own thing.

We believe in freedom and flexibility – so whether you want a relaxed dinner with new friends, a pint and a pie in the pub, or a solo sunset seafood feast, go for it!

What meals are included on the tour?
  • Breakfast every day: hearty, filling, and usually served in your B&B, guesthouse, or hotel
  • Lunch & dinner: not included, giving you freedom to explore local pubs, restaurants, cafΓ©s, or food trucks (yes, we’ve got those too!).

πŸ₯˜ Tour Tip: Don’t leave Ireland without trying black pudding, a seafood platter on the Wild Atlantic Way and at least one hot bowl of creamy chowder.

Packing & Luggage

What kind of luggage should I bring?

Here’s what you can bring:

  • 1 main bag: max 23kg
    – Max total dimensions: 158cm (H + W + D) / 62 inches
  • 1 daypack / carry-on | Ideal size: 10kg max

– Dimensions: 55 x 40 x 20 cm (fits in overhead bins or under seats).

🧠 Pack light if you’re on our Classic Package tours – space is limited, and you’ll thank us later when navigating stairs in B&Bs!

πŸ’‘ You’ll find laundry access on longer tours (Westport, Dingle, Killarney, Clifden), so you don’t need to bring your whole wardrobe.

Clothing essentials

Ireland’s landscapes are wild, but so is the weather.

Here’s what to pack to enjoy it all, rain or shine:

βœ… Layered clothing: base layers, fleece, and a light insulated jacket
βœ… Waterproof outer shell: a proper rain jacket is essential
βœ… Hiking pants or active trousers:Β quick-dry and comfy
βœ… Casual evening clothes: nothing fancy, Irish pubs are chill
βœ… Comfortable walking shoes: sneakers are fine for most days
βœ… Trail shoes: optional, but great for longer or hillier hikes
βœ… Swimwear: for those brave enough to hit the sea (or hotel pools!)
βœ… Hat & gloves: even summer evenings can get nippy
βœ… Sun hat / cap: yes, we do get sunshine sometimes!

Are there laundry stops?

Yes!

You’ll have access to laundry facilities during our two-night stays in places like:

  • Westport
  • Dingle
  • Killarney
  • Clifden

Your guide will point out the best laundrettes or hotel services nearby. That means fewer outfits needed = more space in your suitcase.

Do I need a plug adapter?

Yes, unless you’re coming from the UK.

Ireland uses Type G plugs (three square pins, 230V).
You’ll need a UK/Ireland adapter for your chargers and devices.

Power tip: bring a multi-USB adapter or power strip if you’ve got multiple devices. Outlets can be limited in some older B&Bs.

What About Hiking Boots?

Unless you’re a regular hiker or doing longer trails, you won’t need bulky boots. Trail shoes or good runners/trainers will do the job. Save space in your suitcase and your back.

πŸ‘£ If you’re doing a tour with optional hikes, all routes are easy to moderate, and always optional. You can go at your own pace.

Pro packing tips

πŸ’‘ Pack for layers, not bulk. Think: onion, not polar bear.
πŸ’‘ Leave room for souvenirs –Irish sweaters take up space!
πŸ’‘ Use packing cubes to stay organised
πŸ’‘ Bring a travel-sized umbrella (you’ll feel smug when it starts raining)
πŸ’‘ Dry bags or Ziplocs – handy for keeping tech or socks dry on rainy days
πŸ’‘ Compact laundry bag – especially helpful on longer trips

Visas, Entry & Travel Requirements

Do I need a visa to visit Ireland?

If you’re from the USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand – you’re in luck! You don’t need a visa for short visits to the Republic of Ireland (up to 90 days), provided you’re here for tourism and meet standard entry conditions.

You’ll just need:

  • A valid passport (with at least 6 months remaining)
  • Proof of onward travel (return ticket or next destination)
  • To not overstay the 3-month limit
Planning to visit Northern Ireland too?

This bit’s important:

From November 27 2024, if your trip includes Northern Ireland (which is part of the United Kingdom), travellers from USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will need an ETA – Electronic Travel Authorisation.

Think of it like a digital visitor pass – quick and easy to apply for.

✍️ ETA Overview:

  • Cost: Β£10 (GBP)
  • Applies from: November 27 2024
  • Where to get it: Online or via the UK ETA app (iOS & Android)
  • What you need: Passport, email address, credit/debit card or digital wallet.

🚨 You must apply before travel if you’re entering Northern Ireland – but you can travel to the UK while waiting for a decision.

If your Irish Experience Tour doesn’t enter Northern Ireland, you won’t need an ETA.

Not from the countries listed above?
If you hold a passport from a country outside the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, you might need a visa for the Republic of Ireland, the UK, or both.

We recommend checking your individual visa requirements via:

  • Your country’s Irish embassy or consulate
  • The official Irish immigration site: www.irishimmigration.ieThe UK Government ETA site: www.gov.uk/eta
Currency & cash

Ireland uses Euro (€)
Northern Ireland uses British Pound Sterling (Β£)

πŸ’‘ ATMs are widely available in most towns and service stations on our tour routes.

πŸ’³ Most places accept cards (Visa & Mastercard are best), but always carry a small amount of cash just in case – especially for small pubs, local shops or remote areas.

Top tips before you travel
  • Print out your tour confirmation email (handy at immigration)
  • Double-check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months
  • If transiting through another country (like the UK), check if you need a transit visa.

Have your accommodation and travel insurance details ready to show if asked.

Still not sure?

Drop us a message at info@irishexperiencetours.com – we’re happy to help guide you in the right direction.

While we can’t apply for visas on your behalf, we can point you to the right resources.

Transport, Transfers & Travel Details

Where do the tours start and finish?

All our tours start in central Dublin and end in central Dublin (unless your itinerary includes a train transfer – more on that below).

  • Tour departure point:
πŸ“ Point A Hotel, 17–19 Moore Lane, Dublin 1
πŸ•£ Departure time: 8:30 AM sharp (arrive 15 mins early)
πŸ’‘ Insider tip: this area is well-connected and has great accommodation options for every budget.

    Β

Tour end point:
All tours return to The Ashling Hotel (Stoneybatter, Dublin 8) and Point A Hotel, usually between 4:30 – 5:00 PM.Β If you’re staying along this route between both hotels, we’re happy to drop you off en route (must be pre-arranged with your driver).

Special Case: train transfer tours

Some tours end with a train journey back to Dublin.

If you’re booked on one of the following:

  • 8-Day Castles & Coasts Experience
  • 7-Day Ultimate Atlantic Adventure
  • 5-Day South West
  • 5-Day Giant Irish Experience

➑️ Your tour will end at Dublin Heuston Station (πŸ“ St John’s Rd West), arriving at approximately 6:00 PM.
(Alternative earlier train times may be available – just ask your guide.)

πŸš‰ Heuston Station is right across the road from The Ashling Hotel and connects easily to the LUAS (tram), taxis and Dublin Bus.

What if my tour ends with a train transfer?

For tours like the 8-Day Castles & Coasts or 5-Day Giant Irish Getaway, your final stop will be:

πŸ“ Heuston Station, Dublin
πŸ•• Arrival time: Approximately 6:00 PM
πŸ’‘ Heuston Station is directly across from the Ashling Hotel and well connected to the city centre via LUAS (tram), buses, or taxi.

What kind of vehicle do we travel in?

We use modern, comfortable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibuses and Iveco Turas 700 vehicles – chosen for their safety, reliability, and style.

βœ”οΈ Air-conditioned
βœ”οΈ Leather seats and tinted windows
βœ”οΈ Big windows for scenic viewing
βœ”οΈ Plenty of legroom
βœ”οΈ USB charging ports on most vehicles
βœ”οΈ No huge groups, no coach tour feel

Small-group sizes mean more comfort and better access to Ireland’s hidden gems. We can go where big coaches can’t – down country lanes, to tucked-away villages, or off-the-beaten-track spots most tourists never see.

Accessibility note

Our vehicles are not wheelchair accessible.

You must be able to board the vehicle unaided, or have someone accompany you for assistance. Lightweight foldable wheelchairs may be stored in the luggage hold (with advance notice).

Flying Home on the Last Day?

We recommend not booking flights earlier than 10:00PM on your final tour day to allow for smooth drop-offs, traffic or delays.

Staying an extra night in Dublin is a great way to end your trip – treat yourself to a farewell pint, catch some live musicΒ or relax before your journey home.

Final Travel Tips
  • Arrive the day before your tour starts – we depart early and punctuality matters
  • Download WhatsApp – it’s how we communicate with guests if needed pre-tour
  • Keep your passport & travel insurance handy
  • Use your Google Maps offline in Ireland –Β  rural signal isn’t always perfect!
