Itinerary:

Welcome to an Irish adventure! We’ll kick things off today with a complimentary transfer from Galway Train Station – or you can simply meet us at base camp: our very own  Delphi Mountain Resort. Today you can check into your accommodation at 3 pm. After joining up with your local host and fellow travellers for a short welcome meeting, you’ll head out for a guided walk in the local area, this truly unique experience and learn about the ‘Doolough Tragedy’. Once bonded, we’ll enjoy some authentic Irish food (Lamb stew, Fish Pie that sort of thing) We’ll even get to give our compliments to the chef, who’ll take us through the menu and explain all of those quintessential local flavours.
Get your boots on this morning: today’s the day we conquer the peak of Diamond Hill  (trails for all levels of fitness) for phenomenal views of Connemara Mountains, lakes, valleys, rivers and ocean. After a tough but rewarding morning, we’ll take a breather over a picnic lunch at mid-station. From there, the choice is yours. Got energy to burn? Why not get your walking shoes on and explore the stunning surroundings of the Delphi valley. There are a variety of signposted walks in the 200-acre forest at Delphi Resort or hire a bike and set off on the stunning Connemara loop. Or, if you’re feeling more chill vibes why not relax with downtime in award-winning Delphi Spa where you can let the stresses of everyday life drift away. After some time to chill and rest, we’ll get the adventure vibes rolling again this afternoon as it’s time to get the wetsuit on for an amazing sea kayaking trip.  This tour is a fantastic introduction to exploring Killary Fjord, one of only 3 glacial fjords in Ireland and one of the key signature points along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. If you think you’ve experienced Ireland at its best, wait until you view it away from land – a truly magical experience. Tonight, we’ll wind down another delicious included dinner. Baby Guinness, anyone?
Yesterday we conquered Connemara on foot; today it’s all about two wheels. That’s right, we’re kicking off our third day with a locally guided mountain biking tour. From the village of Letterfrack, we head out along the amazing Atlantic coastline before turning inland, where you will experience rugged Connemara in all its splendour. Our recommended lunch stop today is in the small rural village of Tullycross, where they serve some amazing seafood. After lunch, you will again experience some coastal cycling, before moving inland though some wonderful lakes towards our base for the evening, It’s our final night, so let’s make it one to remember. At our farewell dinner in Delphi we’ll reflect on the adventures we’ve had and swap stories over some local beer. We won’t forget you in a hurry, Connemara.
Group hugs and heartfelt goodbyes will mark the end of our trip after one last breakfast today. Wrap things up with a complimentary transfer to Galway Train Station or you can choose to make your own arrangements. Whatever the case, you will leave with a new home away from home in Connemara.

Will my Irish Retreat have a leader?

Yes! Your Irish Retreat comes with a new, specially named expert local host. They’re here to look after you, take care of all the important bits, and give you their unique insights into the region. Travelling with an experienced host means you can just enjoy the moment, rather than worrying about what happens next.

What is the group size?

Our groups are made up of 12 travellers on average. You get all the benefits of travelling in a group – safety, new friends – but small enough to feel like your exploring a destination independently and not stuck in a big crowd.

Is there freedom & flexibility in these itineraries?

Like all Irish Experience itineraries, we’ve made sure our Irish Retreats provide the right balance between the structured and the spontaneous, giving you the flexibility to digest a destination either with your group or on your own. Want to sleep in instead of getting up for morning hike? No worries! You might spend the morning on a guided walk with your host, then partaking in a cooking a delicious local dish with your group before heading off on your own to explore the town. Needless to say, your host will be there every step of the way with suggestions and recommendations.

What if I have dietary requirements?

Most dietary requirements can be catered for, please advise us at the time of booking.

Will my money be going towards the local community?

Our Irish Retreats uses only locally owned accommodation and transport, and local hosts to guide the itinerary. By choosing to visit – and spend – with local and small businesses, we help ensure our money stays in the local economy and benefits the places we visit. Above all, we’re committed to a style of travel that is culturally, environmentally and socially responsible.

What if I don't want to do one of the activities?

Our Irish Retreats offer included and optional activities. If you don’t want to participate in any included activities you are free to do so, however, please note that no refund will be provided for unused services. We will do our best to substitute your unwanted activity for another activity, if available at the time.
